How Often Should You Wash Natural Hair?

This question doesn't have one complete answer. It varies by hair type, texture and activity. Ideally, you should wash your hair at least once a week. The main goal is to cleanse the scalp, remove product build-up and dirt on hair, while keeping in moisture.

If you're more active and prone to a sweaty scalp, add another day or two per week. Co-washing is a great substitute or technique to add in between shampoo "washes". Conditioning washes don't fully cleanse the scalp and hair. They are meant to remove debris and dirt with a moisturizing agent, which helps moisturize the hair and scalp. Pay attention to ingredients in your hair products to see which shampoos are good for scalp cleansing and help seal in moisture.

The more you moisture your hair and scalp with water, the healthier your hair will be. Hair grows from a clean, healthy scalp. Your strands will look better, feel better and be healthier.
