Benefits of Castor Oil on Hair

Why You Need Castor Oil in Your Life

Castor oil has a long list of benefits including strengthening strands, promoting hair growth, and nourishing the scalp. And although the oil itself can't make your hair grow, it creates a healthy environment on the scalp to encourage hair growth.

What is Castor Oil?

Castor Oil is a thicker, gloopier oil rich in vitamin E and fatty acids than most plant oils, like coconut or argan oil. Pressed from castor seeds found in the tropical Ricinus communis plant, it makes an effective replenisher for your hair. It nourishes the scalp with proteins, vitamins, fatty acids, and antioxidants. It can be used as a moisturizer for your hair, skin, and nails, and can be used alone or with other products.

How to Use Castor Oil

Speed Hair Growth

Because Castor Oil increases circulation to the scalp, Castor Oil is believed to help speed up hair growth, making it great to add to your edges, lashes, and brows.

*To use on your lashes and brows, first make sure your brows and lashes are completely clean of makeup. Then dip a clean q-tip into a small amount of oil and brush Castor Oil through your brows and lashes, being mindful it doesn't get in your eyes.

*On your edges, apply a couple of drops to your fingertips and smooth on your edges before you tie your hair up at night.

Keep Split Ends Away

Filled with omega-6 fatty acids, repairing amino acids, and enriching vitamin E, Castor Oil may help to keep hair strong and healthy, delaying split ends from appearing.

*Put a quarter-size drop of Castor Oil in the palm of your hand, and then warm it with your other hand before smoothing though the ends of your hair. You can also blend it with coconut oil and leave it on overnight for a restorative hair mask.

Best Products With Castor Oil

One of the earliest producers of Castor Oil, Tropic Isle Living has been making and selling pure Castor Oil from Jamaica for almost twenty years.
Made especially for hair, this oil mixes coconut oil and pimento oil, which is beneficial in stimulating blood circulation and the growth and creation of new cells.
